The team, coached by Valdas Dambrauskas, then progressed through all four qualifying rounds, including a dramatic playoff against Hapoel Be’er Sheva, where a 5:2 victory in the second leg secured Sabah’s place in the league phase. This marked the first time in history that an Azerbaijani club reached the main stage of the Champions League.
