Description
The Sheki State Drama Theatre named after Sabit Rahman, located in the picturesque city of Sheki, Azerbaijan, is an important cultural center of the region. Founded in 1975, the theater opened its doors with a production of “Komsomol Poem” by Samad Vurgun. Over its long history, the theater has presented audiences with many significant performances, including works by such authors as Jafar Jabbarli, Alexey Arbuzov and William Shakespeare.
The theater has repeatedly won awards at international festivals and toured various countries, including Germany, Bulgaria and Hungary. In 2012, the theater building was completely renovated, which improved conditions for spectators and artists. The modern auditorium seats 299 people and is equipped with a revolving stage for quick scenery changes.
