Sumgait State Musical and Drama Theatre

The Sumgait State Musical and Drama Theater is one of the leading cultural institutions of Azerbaijan, located in the city of Sumgait. Founded in 1968, the theater is named after the outstanding Azerbaijani theater figure and director Huseyn Arablinski. The theater opened its doors to spectators in 1969 and since then has been delighting the public with a diverse repertoire, including works by classical and modern Azerbaijani, Russian and foreign playwrights.

People's Artists of Azerbaijan have performed and continue to work at the theater, which testifies to the high level of productions and the professionalism of the team. In 1974, the theater received the status of a state drama theater, which emphasizes its importance in the cultural life of the country.
