Description
The Sarhadchi Olympic Sports Center, located in the Khatai district of Baku, is an important sports infrastructure facility of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan. Opened in 2009, the complex can accommodate 3,250 spectators and covers an area of 3 hectares. It has hosted significant events such as the World Junior Boxing Championships and the European Taekwondo Championships.
The center includes a universal three-story hall with a dome 53 meters in diameter, two outdoor sports grounds, a swimming pool, a parking lot and a hotel with 32 rooms. The second floor houses wrestling and martial arts halls, as well as medical and coaching offices. The third floor offers a variety of facilities in the form of chess, table tennis and billiards halls, a conference hall and a museum.
The center's outdoor areas are designed for basketball, volleyball, handball and tennis training, with stands for 1,550 seats. There is also a football pitch with 1,850 seats. The centre regularly hosts matches of the Azerbaijan Basketball Championship and other sporting events, including the Azerbaijan Paralympic Boccia Championship.
