The Azerbaijan Grand Prix will be held in Baku again in 2025

This will be the seventeenth time that sunny Azerbaijan will host a competition of this level. Last year, on September 15, 2024, the Grand Prix was also held on the famous city circuit in Baku. Then the winner was the Australian driver of the McLaren team Oscar Piastri, followed by Monegasque Charles Leclerc from Ferrari, and third place went to Briton George Russell representing Mercedes.

Oscar Piastri, who is looking to repeat his success last year, is one of the most promising young drivers. In 2020, he competed in Formula 2, and in 2024 in Abu Dhabi, he managed to win two victories, set three fastest laps and take ten podiums in Formula 1. He also has eight world karting titles to his name.

Charles Leclerc, the 2022 vice-champion and a native of Monaco, is also a strong contender. He comes from a family of entrepreneurs who competed in Formula 3 in his youth. In 2024, after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Leclerc added eight wins, 26 pole positions, 10 fastest laps and 43 podiums to his tally.

George Russell, who finished third in last year’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix, is from England. In 2024, he won the Belgian Grand Prix and took a pole position in the British Grand Prix. This season, the Mercedes driver is in sixth place with 245 points.
