Description
DTX Mədəniyyət Mərkəzi is an iconic structure that embodies the spirit of 20th century industrial architecture. Built in 1909-1912 by the design of the outstanding architect Josef Ploshko, the building has undergone a long path of transformations and reconstructions, becoming an important cultural center of Baku. In 1938-1939, the building was converted into the “Dzerzhinsky Club”, but the completion of construction was postponed until the end of the Great Patriotic War and was finally completed in 1947.
In 1951-1953, under the leadership of Chief Engineer Gasn Majidov, the building became the venue for significant events, including meetings with the participation of national leader Heydar Aliyev. In 2008, the building was transferred to the balance of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan and after a large-scale reconstruction, it was ceremonially opened on March 14, 2009 with the participation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
Today, DTX Mədəniyyət Mərkəzi includes a 600-seat concert hall, a 100-seat small hall, a conference hall and a 120-seat restaurant, equipped with modern sound and lighting equipment.
