Description
The Shahriyar Cultural Center, located in the city center, is an example of 20th-century architecture created by the talented Azerbaijani architect Hasanagha Majidov in 1949. The building, which underwent major reconstruction in 2009, combines historical heritage and modern standards. Its territory previously housed a church built according to the design of the Polish architect Josef Ploszko.
The center is equipped with high-quality sound and lighting equipment and includes a concert hall for 352 people, a small hall for 100 people, a conference hall and a restaurant for 120 people. The foyer houses a bust of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and a unique exhibition of photographs from the National Archives of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
