This autumn, Azerbaijan will host the 17th round of the Formula 1 competition.
A spectacular event will unfold on the central streets of Baku, along the picturesque embankment of the Caspian Sea - the race on the Baku City Circuit track. This unique event will be an excellent opportunity for Russian spectators to see the "royal races" live. The journey to the capital of Azerbaijan will take less than three hours by plane, and visas for Russians are not required.
The Baku City Circuit track, designed by the famous designer Hermann Tilke, combines the features of city roads and specialized racing tracks. It was first introduced to the Formula 1 calendar as the European Grand Prix in 2016, and since 2017 it has been called the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. The cars race through the narrow streets of the old town and past historical buildings, reaching maximum speeds on long straights. The difficult turns require the highest concentration and skill from the drivers. The narrowest section of the track, just 7.6 meters wide, runs through the Old Town, making it one of the most dangerous in the championship. Mistakes here can be costly, so drivers must be especially careful.

This season, George Russell, a British driver for the Mercedes team with the number 63, will take to the track. He currently ranks third in the overall standings with 35 points. Russell began his motorsport career with karting at the age of seven and gradually moved up to junior formulas thanks to his talent and perseverance. In 2019, he made his debut in Formula 1 with the Williams team, where he demonstrated impressive results even with the limited resources of the car.
His success attracted the attention of the Mercedes team, which invited him to join its ranks in 2022 to replace Valtteri Bottas. Since then, Russell has become Lewis Hamilton's teammate and is fighting for the championship title. To date, he has three wins, five pole positions, eight fastest laps and eighteen podium finishes. George Russell's name is already associated with such racing legends as Hamilton and Verstappen, and his determination and self-belief inspire many young racing fans around the world.
