Azerbaijan Grand Prix: A track that loves sensations

The young Australian driver took his second victory after a successful performance at the Hungarian Grand Prix. Piastri impressed with his speed and composure, confidently controlling the race and avoiding mistakes on a difficult track. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc took second place, demonstrating excellent form after qualifying, while Mercedes’ George Russell finished third, skillfully taking advantage of his rivals’ misses. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, the reigning world champion, was unable to show his best result and finished the race in fifth position. Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton, who started from the back of the field, managed to break through to ninth place thanks to his skill and speed.

The race in Baku was full of drama. Red Bull’s Sergio Perez and Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz Jr., who were in third and fourth places respectively, collided late in the race, which deprived them of a chance of a podium. The top ten also included Lando Norris (McLaren, 4th), Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin, 6th), Alexander Albon (Williams, 7th), Franco Colapinto (Williams, 8th) and Oliver Bermann (Haas, 10th).

In 2023, Ferrari's Charles Leclerc set a lap record in Baku, but Red Bull Racing's Sergio Perez has won the most victories here. The Baku City Circuit is a unique combination of high speed and tight turns that run through the historic center of the capital of Azerbaijan. The semi-urban track was specially designed for the Formula 1 Grand Prix and first hosted the race in 2016, becoming one of the most spectacular and unpredictable on the calendar.
